macOS Proxy Setup Guide

Configure system-wide proxies on your Mac using System Preferences, Terminal commands, or the Proxyman app for advanced features.

⚠️

No Built-in Authentication

macOS System Preferences doesn't support proxy authentication directly. Apps will prompt for credentials, or use Terminal/Proxyman for seamless auth.

1

Open System Preferences → Network

Click System Preferences Network

Or use Spotlight (Cmd+Space) and search "Network"

2

Select Connection → Advanced → Proxies

Wi-Fi
Ethernet

Select your active connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet), then click "Advanced"

3

Configure Web Proxy (HTTP)

Click OK → Apply

Your proxy settings will take effect immediately. Safari and other apps will now use the proxy. You'll be prompted for credentials when browsing.
