How to read these pages
An internet exchange is a shared switch where networks hand traffic to each other directly instead of paying a transit provider. The number of participants at a city's exchanges is the clearest public signal of how well connected that city is, and which networks a request from there is likely to cross.
A colocation facility is a building where networks put equipment. PeeringDB records how many networks are present in each one, which shows where capacity in a city is concentrated.
Neither number says anything about where a given IP address is geolocated. Mobile operators in particular route subscribers through a handful of gateways, so a phone in one city commonly appears in another. Each city page states what the registry can and cannot tell you about that.

What is the city network registry?
A reference of the network infrastructure recorded in 228 cities across 81 countries: every internet exchange PeeringDB lists there with its participant count, every colocation facility with the number of networks present, and which mobile carriers from our carrier registry peer at those exchanges. Where does the data come from?
PeeringDB, the industry database networks maintain about themselves, snapshotted on 2026-09-07. A city is listed only where PeeringDB records an exchange with participants or at least three facilities, so no page is padded out with an empty table. Carrier links are the intersection of an exchange's participant list with the ASNs in the carrier registry.
Does a city page mean you sell proxies in that city?
No. These pages describe how networks reach a city, not our inventory. Mobile pools rotate and city-level placement is never guaranteed; the country pages state what is actually on offer. Treat a city page as routing and geolocation reference, not a stock list.
Why does a mobile IP rarely geolocate to the city the phone is in?
Mobile operators route subscriber traffic through a small number of gateways, so the public address often belongs to a pool registered in another city entirely. Geolocation databases place the address where the operator says the block lives, which is why a handset in one city can appear in the capital. The city pages explain what that means for anything that depends on location.
