Holder names and prefix counts come from the RIPE NCC's RIPEstat Data API, fetched on 2026-09-06. Role and confidence come from the evidence linked in each row; "confirmed" means a PeeringDB or RIPEstat record, or the operator's own site, names the operator.

Mobile network codes
The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.
About Movistar
The registry records four ASNs for Movistar. Three are documented as mobile: AS11315, AS22185 and AS262175, all registered to Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A. Only AS262175 announced routes at the last probe, with 17 IPv4 prefixes and no IPv6 prefixes; AS11315 and AS22185 announced none. PeeringDB has a record for AS11315 under the name Telefonica Moviles with a Cable/DSL/ISP info type and none for the other two. AS22927, Telefónica de Argentina, is the fixed-line ASN and announced 201 IPv4 and 21 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe; PeeringDB types it Enterprise.
An address whose origin ASN is AS262175 is routed by the mobile network the registry documents for Movistar, and that ASN is the only one of the three mobile entries visible in routing at the last probe. An address originating from AS22927 belongs to the fixed-line network rather than the mobile one, and PeeringDB's Enterprise typing points the same way. AS11315 and AS22185 announce nothing, so no routed address maps to them. The recorded role attaches to the ASN, not to any individual address inside it.
Research note. Ownership: Telecom Argentina's FY2025 20-F states 'On February 24, 2025, we completed the acquisition of TMA [Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A.] for a purchase price of US$1,245 million' and that TMA operates 'under the Movistar and Tuenti brands' on a network 'mainly operating with 4G and 5G technologies' (715 5G sites; 4G/LTE 99.4% urban coverage); Wikipedia notes the post-closing regulatory review was still disputed as of May 2026, and movistar.com.ar's footer still references Telefónica. Of the three candidate ASNs only AS262175 announces prefixes (RIPEstat announced=true); AS11315 (PeeringDB: 'Telefonica Moviles', website movistar.com.ar, Cable/DSL/ISP) and AS22185 are registered to the same holder but not announced; PeeringDB has no record for 22185 or 262175 ('Entity not found'). AS22927 'Telefonica de Argentina' is the fixed-line/incumbent ASN, listed separately. Candidate row 722/007 returns 'Network Not Found' on mcc-mnc.org and is absent from mcc-mnc-lookup.com; dropped. ayuda.movistar.com.ar 4G page: 'La red 4G LTE de Movistar... bandas 4 y 28'; 5G page: 'La red 5G de Movistar sigue creciendo en todo el país'. 5G spectrum (Lote 3B, 3.550-3.600 MHz) awarded to Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A. by ENACOM Res. 1473/2023. movistar.com.ar/5g returns 404.
Checking whether an IP belongs to Movistar
Look up the origin ASN of the address and compare it with the table above. RIPEstat answers for any address, and the RADB whois mirror lists the routes registered under an ASN.
curl -s "https://stat.ripe.net/data/prefix-overview/data.json?resource=203.0.113.9" | jq '.data.asns'whois -h whois.radb.net -- '-i origin AS11315' | grep ^routeQuestions
What is Movistar Argentina's ASN?
The registry records AS11315, AS22185 and AS262175 as mobile ASNs registered to Telefónica Móviles Argentina S.A., and AS22927, Telefónica de Argentina, as the fixed-line ASN. Of those, only AS262175 and AS22927 were announcing prefixes at the last probe.
What is the MCC/MNC of Movistar Argentina?
The registry records two rows under mobile country code 722: 722/010 and 722/070. A candidate row 722/007 could not be confirmed against the sources used and is not recorded, so the registry lists two rows for Movistar rather than three.
Is an IP from AS22927 a mobile IP?
The registry records AS22927 as the fixed-line ASN of Telefónica de Argentina and PeeringDB types it Enterprise, so an address originating there is not documented as mobile. The mobile role is recorded against AS11315, AS22185 and AS262175 instead.
