The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.
About DST
The registry records two ASNs for DST. AS10094 is the confirmed mobile-role ASN, registered to Unified National Networks, and at the last probe it was announced with 193 IPv4 prefixes and no IPv6 prefixes. PeeringDB lists it under the name Unified National Networks with an information type of Cable/DSL/ISP. AS132395, recorded under the holder name DST-AS and registered to the same organisation, was not announced at the last probe and has no PeeringDB entry.
An address whose origin ASN is AS10094 is routed by Unified National Networks, the wholesale network that carries DST alongside Brunei's other retail mobile brands. The ASN identifies the network operator rather than the brand that sold the line, so it does not by itself tell you which retail provider the subscriber bought from. PeeringDB describes the network as Cable/DSL/ISP, so an address in its range could be mobile, fixed or enterprise. Ranges under AS132395 should not appear in routed traffic while that number stays unannounced.
Research note. Operator legal name Datastream Digital Sdn Bhd (formerly Datastream Technology Sdn Bhd; mcc-mnc.org lists the MNC 11 operator as Data Stream Technology Sdn Bhd, brand DST, status Live, LTE1800). Ownership: Wikipedia states DST is owned by Darussalam Assets; The Scoop (2019) calls Darussalam Assets 'the only shareholder of Brunei's three telcos: DST, Telbru and Progresif'. Since 2019 all Brunei telecom infrastructure (mobile and fixed) is consolidated in the wholesale operator Unified National Networks (UNN, wholly owned by Darussalam Assets); DST, imagine and Progresif are retail service providers on that single shared network, so consumer traffic is carried by UNN's AS10094 (PeeringDB: 'Unified National Networks', aka UNN, website unn.com.bn, info_type Cable/DSL/ISP; RIPEstat: announced true). AS132395 (RIPE asn.txt candidate 'DST-AS') is registered to Unified National Networks per RIPEstat but is NOT announced (RIPEstat announced=false; PeeringDB 'Entity not found'), so it currently carries no traffic. 4G: Wikipedia says DST launched 4G in November 2013; dst.com.bn advertises VoLTE and 5G plans. 5G: AITI regulator release says 5G available nationwide from 22 June 2023 via DST, imagine and Progresif. The registry records AS10094 as the ASN carrying DST's mobile traffic. It is registered to Unified National Networks, the shared wholesale carrier for Brunei. A second number, AS132395, is registered to the same organisation under the holder name DST-AS, but it was not announced at the last probe.
