About TIM
The registry records one ASN for TIM, AS16232, registered to Telecom Italia S.p.A. under the RIPE name ASN-TIM and documented as the ASN carrying the mobile network. AS16232 announced 19 IPv4 prefixes and a single IPv6 prefix at the last probe. PeeringDB holds no record for AS16232, so the mobile role rests on the RIPE registration name rather than on a network-type entry from a second source.
An address whose origin ASN is AS16232 is routed by TIM, and because the registry documents that ASN as the mobile one, an Italian address inside it has a reasonable claim to being a mobile connection. That documentation is thin, since it comes from the RIPE holder name with no PeeringDB record to corroborate the network type, and the same ASN can also carry fixed and enterprise customers of Telecom Italia. The origin ASN places traffic with the operator; it does not prove the connection is a handset.
