Autonomous systems

Holder names and prefix counts come from the RIPE NCC's RIPEstat Data API, fetched on 2026-09-06. Role and confidence come from the evidence linked in each row; "confirmed" means a PeeringDB or RIPEstat record, or the operator's own site, names the operator.

Mobile network codes

The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.

About Vodafone Romania

Vodafone Romania is a mobile operator in Romania owned by Vodafone Group Plc. The registry records four ASNs registered to Vodafone Romania S.A. Two carry mobile traffic: AS12302, the main consumer ASN, and AS35725, the former Telekom Romania Mobile ASN now held by Vodafone. Its MCC/MNC is 226-01.

Four ASNs are registered to Vodafone Romania S.A. AS12302 (Vodafone_Ro) is the main mobile and consumer ASN and announced 363 IPv4 prefixes and 5 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe; PeeringDB names it Vodafone Romania with the network type Cable/DSL/ISP. AS35725 (TELEKOMRO), also documented as mobile, announced 18 IPv4 prefixes and no IPv6, and has no PeeringDB record. AS8919 (CANAD) and AS9015 are registered to the operator but announced nothing at the last probe and have no PeeringDB record.

An address whose origin ASN is AS12302 or AS35725 is routed by Vodafone Romania on an ASN the registry documents as mobile, which supports a mobile reading. AS8919 and AS9015 have no documented role: an address inside either could be mobile, fixed or enterprise, and the ASN alone does not settle it. In practice neither announces prefixes, so end-user addresses are not expected from them. Most Vodafone Romania address space a classifier meets is IPv4, with a small IPv6 presence on AS12302 only.

Research note. MNC 226/01 (brand Vodafone, operator Vodafone România, operational; GSM 900 / LTE 800/1800/2100 / 5G 2100/3500; UMTS shut down Jul 2025; former Connex) per Wikipedia MNC table and mcc-mnc.org (TADIG ROMMF). Candidate rows 226/06 and 226/04 dropped: Telekom Romania Mobile legacy Zapp/Cosmote codes, 'Not operational'. Vodafone Romania and Digi Romania completed the acquisition of OTE's Telekom Romania Mobile Communications on 1 Oct 2025 (Vodafone: post-paid base, network, retail; Digi: pre-paid) - Telekom's MNC 226/03 is therefore now under Vodafone control but is reported under the Telekom Romania entry, not duplicated here; Wikipedia states the legal merger by absorption becomes effective after 1 Jul 2026. AS12302 (Vodafone_Ro; PeeringDB net 14092 'Vodafone Romania', website vodafone.ro, 368 announced prefixes) is the main consumer/mobile AS. AS35725 (as-name TELEKOMRO, RIPE org ORG-MS15-RIPE = Vodafone Romania S.A., 18 announced prefixes, object last modified 2026-08-03) is the former Telekom Romania Mobile AS now held by Vodafone Romania. AS9015 (as-name UNSPECIFIED) and AS8919 (CANAD) are registered to RIPE org ORG-ATS4-RIPE whose org-name is Vodafone Romania S.A., but announce no prefixes (RIPEstat announced=false) and have no PeeringDB record; role not determinable. Operator 5G page (GigaNetwork 5G) confirms 5G; LTE bands per Wikipedia MNC table / mcc-mnc.org (Wikipedia: 5G launched May 2019). Parent group per Wikipedia ('owned by Vodafone Group Plc'); acquisition release published on vodafone.com.

Check whether an IP belongs to Vodafone Romania

Look up the origin ASN of the address and compare it with the table above. RIPEstat answers for any address, and the RADB whois mirror lists the routes registered under an ASN.

Questions

What is Vodafone Romania's ASN?
The registry records four confirmed ASNs held by Vodafone Romania S.A. AS12302 (Vodafone_Ro) is the main mobile ASN and AS35725 (TELEKOMRO), the former Telekom Romania Mobile ASN, is also documented as mobile. AS8919 and AS9015 are registered to the operator but announce no prefixes and have no documented role.
What is the MCC/MNC of Vodafone Romania?
Vodafone Romania uses MCC 226, the country code for Romania, with MNC 01, written together as 226-01. The Telekom Romania code 226-03 is now under Vodafone control but the registry reports it under the Telekom Romania entry rather than repeating it here.
Is an IP from AS12302 a mobile IP?
AS12302 is the ASN the registry documents as carrying Vodafone Romania's mobile network, and it announced 363 IPv4 prefixes and 5 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe. An address from it is plausibly mobile, though PeeringDB types the network Cable/DSL/ISP, so it can carry consumer traffic that is not mobile.

Where Vodafone Romania meets other networks

PeeringDB records Vodafone Romania as a participant at internet exchanges in one city. Each city page lists the exchanges there and the other networks present.

Network cities in Romania: Bucharest, Cluj Napoca.

ASN and prefix data describe how the operator's networks are registered and announced. They do not identify an individual subscriber or where a device is, since carriers route traffic from many areas through shared gateways.
