Optus is an Australian mobile network operator owned by the Singtel Group (Singapore Telecommunications Limited). The registry records AS4804 as the ASN carrying its consumer mobile network, alongside AS7474, AS17719 and AS4794. Optus runs 4G LTE and 5G, and its codes are MCC 505 with MNCs 02, 17 and 36.

Mobile network codes
The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.
About Optus
The registry lists four ASNs for Optus. AS4804 carries the consumer network and announced 282 IPv4 prefixes against 111 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe; its PeeringDB record is named Optus Internet and typed Cable/DSL/ISP. AS7474, classified as enterprise and wholesale, announced 158 IPv4 prefixes and 5 IPv6 prefixes, and its PeeringDB record is named SingTel Optus and typed NSP. AS17719 announced two IPv6 prefixes and no IPv4, and has no PeeringDB entry. AS4794 rests on a name match only and announced nothing at the last probe.
An address whose origin ASN is AS4804 is routed by Optus on its retail network. Optus registers no address range as mobile-only, so AS4804 carries home broadband and handset traffic together and the ASN alone does not tell you which. AS7474 announces prefixes that resolve mostly to named corporate and government customer blocks, so an address there points to a business connection rather than a handset. AS17719 and AS4794 have no documented role, and an address on either could be mobile, fixed or enterprise.
Research note. Almost every ASN in the candidate list is a false positive: RIPE holder strings such as 'Optus Customer Network' mark networks belonging to Optus CUSTOMERS (Westpac, Medicare, Seven Network, West Australian Newspapers, Logan City Council, Boral, IAG and so on), not to Optus, and were rejected. Only AS7474 and AS17719 carry the holder 'SingTel Optus Pty Ltd'. The candidate list missed AS4804: its RIPE holder string is the legacy 'MPX-AS - Microplex PTY LTD', but the APNIC aut-num object for AS4804 has org-name 'SingTel Optus Pty Ltd', and AS4804 originates the Optus consumer retail address space, including 49.176.0.0/12 and 211.28.0.0/14 (netname OPTUSINTERNET-AU, descr 'OPTUS INTERNET - RETAIL', Optus Internet Pty Ltd). AS4804 is therefore Optus's consumer-facing AS and is marked mobile, with the caveat that Optus does not register any inetnum as mobile-only, so AS4804 carries fixed and mobile retail traffic together. AS7474's announced prefixes resolve overwhelmingly to named corporate/government customer inetnums (CSR, Kmart, DFAT, Australian Defence, Orica, VicWater and others) plus OPTUSCOM-AU/OPTUSNET blocks, so it is classified enterprise/wholesale. Optus's own coverage page states 'Our 3G and 4G mobile network covers 98.5% of the Australian population, and our 5G rollout has begun.' Parent group taken from Optus's own investor page, described as 'Singtel Group and Optus financial information for Singtel shareholders and prospective investors.' Candidate MNC 505/90 was dropped: the ITU-region-5xx table attributes it to Alphawest (former Optus, UE Access), a separate brand with unknown status. Added 505/17 (Optus Mobile, TD-LTE 2300, former Vivid Wireless) and 505/36 (Optus, Singtel Optus), which the candidate list missed.

What is Optus's ASN?
Optus's consumer network runs on AS4804, whose RIPE holder string is the legacy MPX-AS - Microplex PTY LTD while the APNIC record gives the organisation as SingTel Optus Pty Ltd. The registry also records AS7474 and AS17719 under SingTel Optus Pty Ltd, plus AS4794 on a name match only.
What is the MCC/MNC of Optus?
Optus uses MCC 505 with three MNCs: 02 for the main mobile network, 17 for the TD-LTE 2300 network formerly branded Vivid Wireless, and 36 registered to Singtel Optus. The registry does not attribute 505/90 to Optus, because the source table gives that code to the separate Alphawest brand.
Is an IP from AS4804 a mobile IP?
Not always. AS4804 originates Optus retail address space, and Optus registers no range as mobile-only, so one ASN carries home broadband and handset traffic together. An address there is routed by Optus, but the origin ASN by itself does not tell you whether the connection is mobile.
