Gibtelecom ASN, MCC/MNC and IP prefixes

Gibtelecom is a mobile and fixed-line operator in Gibraltar, owned 100 percent by Gibraltar Savings Bank on behalf of the Government of Gibraltar. AS8301, registered to GIBTELECOMNET Gibtelecom Ltd., carries its mobile network and holds a confirmed mobile role in the registry. Gibtelecom uses the network code 266-01 and runs 4G LTE and 5G.

Gibtelecom has one ASN in the registry, AS8301, held by GIBTELECOMNET Gibtelecom Ltd. and confirmed in a mobile role. That same autonomous system carries the fixed network too, and the registry found no separate mobile ASN for the operator. AS8301 is announced, and at the last probe it originated 42 IPv4 prefixes against a single IPv6 prefix. PeeringDB records the network under the name Gibraltar Telecom, with the website gibtele.com and a network type of NSP.

An address whose origin ASN is AS8301 routes through Gibtelecom, and because the registry confirms that ASN in a mobile role, the operator's mobile subscribers sit inside the same address space. AS8301 carries Gibtelecom's fixed and business traffic as well, so the ASN on its own does not tell you whether an address belongs to a handset or to a fixed connection. The 42 IPv4 prefixes against one IPv6 prefix mean most of what you see from the operator arrives over IPv4.

Research note. AS8301 is Gibtelecom's single ASN (RIPEstat holder 'GIBTELECOMNET Gibtelecom Ltd.'; PeeringDB net name 'Gibraltar Telecom', website gibtele.com, type NSP). It carries both the fixed and mobile network; no separate mobile ASN found. 5G launched 17 June 2021 and is stated as available across all of Gibraltar; Gibtelecom describes its prior network as 4G+ (LTE-A per Wikipedia). Wikipedia infobox lists Gibraltar Savings Bank (100%) as owner; the older Communications in Gibraltar article describes a Government of Gibraltar / Telekom Slovenije JV as of 2007.
