MTN Côte d'Ivoire ASN, MCC/MNC and IP prefixes

MTN Côte d'Ivoire is a mobile operator in Ivory Coast and part of MTN Group. The registry records two ASNs registered to it, AS36974 and AS36995, with AS36974 documented as the ASN carrying the mobile network. Its codes are MCC 612 and MNC 05, and the registry lists 4G LTE and 5G.

Two ASNs in the registry are registered to MTN COTE D'IVOIRE S.A. AS36974 is the one documented as carrying the mobile network, and at the last probe it was announced with 92 IPv4 prefixes against a single IPv6 prefix, so almost all of its routed space is IPv4. PeeringDB records AS36974 as MTN Cote d'Ivoire with an info type of Cable/DSL/ISP. AS36995 was not announced at the last probe, holds no prefixes of either family and has no PeeringDB entry, and the registry documents no role for it.

An address whose origin ASN is AS36974 is routed by MTN Côte d'Ivoire, and the registry documents that ASN as the mobile one, so mobile is the expected use. The PeeringDB classification does not separate mobile access from fixed, so an individual address there still needs its own check. AS36995 announced no prefixes at the last probe, so live traffic should not trace back to it; the registry gives it no role, and an address attributed to it could be mobile, fixed or enterprise. The ASN alone does not settle it.

Research note. AS36974 (as-name MTNCI-AS, descr 'MTN Côte d'Ivoire', org ORG-MCDS1-AFRINIC) is announced per RIPEstat; AS36995 is registered to MTN COTE D'IVOIRE S.A but not announced, role not determined. PeeringDB API returned HTTP 429, no PeeringDB confirmation. mtn.com states MTN Group owns 58.8% of MTN Côte d'Ivoire. Wikipedia MNC table names the 612-05 operator as Loteny Telecom (MTN CI legal entity) with brand MTN. mtn.ci 5G page states plans are usable on 3G, 4G and 5G networks; 4G page documents LTE with 4.5G up to 300 Mbit/s.
