Holder names and prefix counts come from the RIPE NCC's RIPEstat Data API, fetched on 2026-09-06. Role and confidence come from the evidence linked in each row; "confirmed" means a PeeringDB or RIPEstat record, or the operator's own site, names the operator.

Mobile network codes
The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.
About Sunrise
The registry records seven ASNs for Sunrise. Two carry the mobile role, AS5426 under the name SUNRISE-MOBILE and AS6730, while AS8404 and AS35097 are legacy cablecom ranges marked fixed. AS8231, AS9214 and AS12799 have no documented role. Only AS6730 was announced at the last probe, originating 155 IPv4 prefixes against 19 IPv6 prefixes, and PeeringDB records it as Sunrise GmbH with the type Cable/DSL/ISP. The other six originated no prefixes at all.
An address whose origin ASN is AS6730 is routed by Sunrise, but that ASN covers consumer traffic in general rather than mobile alone, so the address could be a mobile connection, a fixed broadband line or a business circuit, and the ASN by itself does not settle which. The six remaining Sunrise ASNs announced nothing at the last probe, so an address attributed to one of them needs checking against current routing first. Sunrise runs 4G LTE and 5G.
Research note. parentGroup left empty: sunrise.ch investor page states the spin-off from Liberty Global completed 8 Nov 2024 and Sunrise Communications AG is independently listed on SIX (ticker SUNN). AS6730 is the only Sunrise candidate announced (RIPEstat announced=true); PeeringDB id 121 'Sunrise GmbH' aka 'sunrise, Sunrise UPC GmbH', type Cable/DSL/ISP - consumer traffic incl. mobile is carried here. AS5426 is named SUNRISE-MOBILE in RIPE DB (org ORG-sTSA1-RIPE, same as AS6730) but RIPEstat announced=false and no PeeringDB record. AS8404/AS35097 are legacy cablecom/UPC (PeeringDB id 114 'cablecom GmbH', part of AS-AORTA), both unannounced. AS8231, AS9214, AS12799 unannounced, no PeeringDB record. Not fetched: 203855, 204697. Dropped MNC rows: 228-07 is IN&Phone SA, 228-08 is Tele4u/TelCommunication Services AG, 228-53 is upc cablecom/UPC Schweiz GmbH (MVNO brand, listed as now owned by Sunrise but not the Sunrise brand); duplicate 228-02 row collapsed. mcc-mnc.org lists 4G+5G bands for 228-02 only; 228-12 and 228-60 have no technology on record. Sunrise business network page: 'VoLTE ... via the 4G/LTE mobile network', 'largest 5G network in Switzerland and the only 5G Standalone network', population coverage 99.9%.
Checking whether an IP belongs to Sunrise
Look up the origin ASN of the address and compare it with the table above. RIPEstat answers for any address, and the RADB whois mirror lists the routes registered under an ASN.
curl -s "https://stat.ripe.net/data/prefix-overview/data.json?resource=203.0.113.9" | jq '.data.asns'whois -h whois.radb.net -- '-i origin AS5426' | grep ^routeQuestions
What is Sunrise's ASN?
The registry records seven ASNs for Sunrise, and AS6730, held by Sunrise GmbH, is the one announced at the last probe and the one PeeringDB lists as Sunrise GmbH. AS5426 carries the name SUNRISE-MOBILE in the RIPE database but originated no prefixes.
What is the MCC/MNC of Sunrise?
Sunrise has three MCC/MNC pairs on record, all under MCC 228 for Switzerland, with MNC 02, MNC 12 and MNC 60. mcc-mnc.org lists 4G and 5G bands for 228-02 only, while 228-12 and 228-60 have no technology on record there.
Is an IP from AS6730 a mobile IP?
Not always. AS6730 is the announced Sunrise network and PeeringDB classes it as Cable/DSL/ISP, a type that covers consumer traffic in general. An address there could be mobile, fixed broadband or enterprise, and the ASN on its own does not tell you which.
