Autonomous systems

Holder names and prefix counts come from the RIPE NCC's RIPEstat Data API, fetched on 2026-09-06. Role and confidence come from the evidence linked in each row; "confirmed" means a PeeringDB or RIPEstat record, or the operator's own site, names the operator.

Mobile network codes

The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.

About CNT

CNT is the state-owned telecommunications operator of Ecuador, Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT EP, with no parent group recorded. The registry lists seven autonomous systems confirmed to CNT EP, and none of them is documented as carrying the mobile network. Its network code is MCC 740 with MNC 02, and it runs 4G LTE.

The registry holds seven autonomous systems for CNT, all confirmed to CNT EP by their holder records: AS14420, AS26613, AS27757, AS27948, AS27968, AS28006 and AS28011. No mobile role is documented for any of them. AS27757 is recorded as fixed and appears in PeeringDB as a Cable/DSL/ISP network, while AS14420 and AS28011 are recorded as enterprise. The role of AS26613, AS27948, AS27968 and AS28006 is not documented in the registry.

At the last probe AS28006 announced most of the address space, 656 IPv4 prefixes against 169 IPv6 prefixes, followed by AS27948 with 15 IPv4 prefixes, AS27757 with seven and AS26613 with five IPv4 and one IPv6. AS28011 announced a single IPv4 prefix, and AS14420 and AS27968 announced none. An address whose origin ASN is one of these seven is routed by CNT, but with no mobile role documented the address could be mobile, fixed or enterprise, and the ASN alone does not settle it.

Research note. State-owned public company Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT EP (no parent group; Wikipedia: public company since 14 Jan 2010, absorbed Alegro mobile). All seven asn.txt candidates confirmed as CNT EP by RIPEstat holder and PeeringDB. Which ASN carries the mobile network could not be established from a public source: ipinfo tags none of them Mobile. AS28006 (PeeringDB 'CNT EP', website cnt.gob.ec) is the main consumer network with 825 announced prefixes / ~302k IPv4 addresses, consumer-ISP pattern; AS27948 15 prefixes consumer ISP; AS27757 PeeringDB type Cable/DSL/ISP, website empresas.cnt.com.ec (fixed/business); AS26613 6 prefixes, backbone routers Quito/Guayaquil, website empresas.cnt.com.ec; AS28011 'CNT EP - RNG - UIO' PeeringDB type Government, 1 prefix; AS14420 'CNT EP - RNG - CDN' PeeringDB type Content, announces no prefixes; AS27968 'CNT EP - RNG - GYE' announces no prefixes. Website: PeeringDB records list both https://www.cnt.com.ec/ and https://www.cnt.gob.ec (Wikipedia gives cnt.gob.ec); cnt.com.ec, institucional.cnt.com.ec and cnt.gob.ec all refused connections from the research environment, so operator pages could not be read. 4G LTE from the regulator (MINTEL): 'los avances en las redes móviles de tercera generación 3G HSPA+ y cuarta generación 4G LTE', 2,032 radio bases across 24 provinces. CNT 5G plan pages exist at cnt.com.ec (/paginas/cnt-5g, /productos/planes-movil-pospago/plan-movil-5g per search results) but could not be fetched, so 5G is not listed.

Check whether an IP belongs to CNT

Look up the origin ASN of the address and compare it with the table above. RIPEstat answers for any address, and the RADB whois mirror lists the routes registered under an ASN.

Questions

What is CNT's ASN?
CNT holds seven autonomous systems in the registry, all confirmed to Corporación Nacional de Telecomunicaciones CNT EP: AS14420, AS26613, AS27757, AS27948, AS27968, AS28006 and AS28011. AS28006 announces most of the address space. The registry records no confirmed mobile-role ASN for CNT.
What is the MCC/MNC of CNT?
The registry records one network code row for CNT: MCC 740, the country code for Ecuador, with MNC 02. A handset attached to this network reports the pair as 74002, which is how the operator is identified in signalling and in device network lists.
Is an IP from AS28006 a mobile IP?
The registry cannot answer that. AS28006 is confirmed to CNT EP and carries most of the announced address space, but no role is documented for it, and no CNT ASN is documented as mobile. An address in that space could be mobile, fixed or enterprise.

Where CNT meets other networks

PeeringDB records CNT as a participant at internet exchanges in one city. Each city page lists the exchanges there and the other networks present.

Network cities in Ecuador: Quito, Guayaquil.

ASN and prefix data describe how the operator's networks are registered and announced. They do not identify an individual subscriber or where a device is, since carriers route traffic from many areas through shared gateways.
