The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.

About Verizon

The registry records eight ASNs for Verizon. Seven are registered to Cellco Partnership and carry a mobile role. AS6167 announced 2,175 IPv4 prefixes against 1,667 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe, and PeeringDB names it Verizon Business AS6167. AS22394 announced 190 IPv4 and 99 IPv6 prefixes under the PeeringDB name CELLCO, AS6256 announced 97 IPv4 prefixes and AS12079 announced 8 IPv4 and 9 IPv6 prefixes. AS2634, AS17106 and AS32471 announced nothing. The eighth ASN, AS701, is the Verizon Business network that PeeringDB names Verizon and types NSP.

An address whose origin ASN is one of the seven Cellco ASNs is routed by Verizon's mobile network, and AS6167 holds most of that address space at the last probe. AS2634, AS17106 and AS32471 hold a mobile role in the registry but announced no prefixes, so they will not turn up in live routing data. AS701 is recorded as an enterprise network rather than a mobile one, so an address originating there is not a mobile address even though Verizon runs the ASN.

Research note. The consumer mobile network is operated by Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless; ARIN registers all of its ASNs under the org handle MCICS ('Verizon Business'), which holds 155 ASNs in total. The mobile ASNs are the seven registered as CELLCO-PART / CELLCO: AS6167 is the main consumer mobile network (3,842 announced prefixes on 2026-09-06), with AS22394 (289 prefixes), AS6256 (97) and AS12079 (17) also live; AS2634, AS17106 and AS32471 are registered to Cellco Partnership but are NOT currently announced in BGP (RIPEstat announced=false). AS701 (UUNET) is Verizon Business's IP backbone, not the mobile network. The candidate list's AS145/AS284/AS690/AS702-705/AS813-817/AS1321-1332 entries are all Verizon Business backbone/legacy UUNET-ANS ASNs and were not treated as mobile. Verizon's registered MNC space is very large (311/270-311/289, 310/590-310/599, 310/890-310/899 and more); only the rows the ITU/Wikipedia table marks 'Operational' are listed here. The many candidate rows marked 'Not operational' were dropped: 310/005 and 310/350 (CDMA, shut down 31 Dec 2022), 311/012, 311/440, and the LTE-700 block 311/481-311/489. Rows whose status the table records as 'Unknown' (e.g. 310/013, 310/590, 310/890, 310/910, 311/110, 311/270-311/289, 311/390) were left out rather than guessed. Verizon's coverage page states 'Our 4G LTE network covers more than 99% of the U.S. population' and 'Verizon's 5G mobile network is available nationwide'.

AS6167 is the mobile network with the most announced address space at the last probe. AS22394, AS6256 and AS12079 are also live mobile-role ASNs, and AS2634, AS17106 and AS32471 are registered to Cellco Partnership but announced nothing. AS701 is the Verizon Business network.

What is the MCC/MNC of Verizon?

The registry lists 310/004, 310/006, 310/010, 310/012, 311/480, 311/800 and 311/810. Verizon holds a much wider block of registered codes, but only the rows the source table marks as operational are recorded here; rows marked unknown or not operational are left out.

Is an IP from AS701 a mobile IP?

The registry records AS701 as a Verizon enterprise network, not a mobile one, and PeeringDB names it Verizon with the NSP type. It announced 962 IPv4 and 37 IPv6 prefixes at the last probe. Verizon's mobile traffic sits on the Cellco Partnership ASNs, headed by AS6167.
