Mobile network codes

The MCC identifies the country and the MNC identifies the operator inside it. Together they appear in the IMSI of every SIM on the network and in device diagnostics; they are how a handset knows which network it is on.

About WOM

WOM announces a single ASN, AS52341. At the last probe it originated 67 IPv4 prefixes and 5 IPv6 prefixes, so the network has begun announcing IPv6 but still carries most of its address space over IPv4. PeeringDB holds a record for it under the name WOM, pointing at wom.cl, with the network type set to Cable/DSL/ISP. That type is the same one PeeringDB gives fixed broadband providers, so it does not on its own mark AS52341 as a mobile network.

An address whose origin ASN is AS52341 is routed by WOM. Because the operator announces everything from that one ASN, the same address space can hold mobile subscribers and any fixed or enterprise service WOM runs, and the ASN alone does not settle which. The registry documents 4G LTE and 5G, and WOM's own 5G page says 3G and 4G stay available for browsing. No generation is mapped to a prefix range, so the address data does not separate a 5G address from a 4G one.

Research note. AS52341 PeeringDB name 'WOM', aka 'WOM', website https://www.wom.cl/, info_type Cable/DSL/ISP, announced; RIPEstat holder 'WOM SpA'. No MCC/MNC candidates were supplied; mcc-mnc.org and mcc-mnc.dev list 730-09 and 730-04 as WOM (operator Novator Partners), both Live/Operational; the 730-04/09 codes were historically Nextel/Centennial Cayman per mcc-mnc-lookup.com. wom.cl/5g/ states 5G offered and 'Podrás seguir navegando sin problemas a través de la red 3G y 4G'. Parent Novator Partners per Wikipedia list and mcc-mnc.org; not stated on wom.cl pages fetched (wom.cl/quienes-somos 404).

Checking whether an IP belongs to WOM

Look up the origin ASN of the address and compare it with the table above. RIPEstat answers for any address, and the RADB whois mirror lists the routes registered under an ASN.

Questions

What is WOM's ASN in Chile?

AS52341, registered to WOM SpA. It is the only ASN the registry records for WOM, it is announced, and PeeringDB carries it under the name WOM with wom.cl as the network's website.

What is the MCC/MNC of WOM Chile?

MCC 730 with MNC 09 and MNC 04, both recorded as live for WOM. The same two codes were historically attached to other operators before WOM, so older code tables can point them somewhere else.

Is an IP from AS52341 a mobile IP?

It is a WOM address, but the ASN alone does not prove mobile. WOM announces one ASN, and PeeringDB types it Cable/DSL/ISP rather than mobile, so mobile, fixed and enterprise addresses can share the same origin ASN.
