What is Private Proxy?

A private proxy is allocated to one customer, so no other user of the provider sends traffic through the same exit address. Exclusivity buys predictable bandwidth and a reputation history you alone create. On residential and mobile networks the address is still shared with the carrier's own subscribers, which is a different kind of sharing.

Vendors use private and dedicated interchangeably, so read what the product reserves. A private datacenter proxy is usually one IP address on a host that runs many other customers' addresses, which is fine because contention there is negligible. A private mobile proxy normally means the whole modem and SIM, so the radio link and the rotation schedule are yours as well as the address. Those are different guarantees at very different prices, and the marketing word is the same in both cases.

What exclusivity gives you is a clean causal chain. Bandwidth and concurrency compete with nobody, and latency stays inside a narrow band. Every block on that address was earned by your own traffic, so your request log is the whole history of the IP. Debugging changes character as a result. A 403 stops being an unknowable inheritance from a stranger and becomes evidence about your own request pattern or header set, which is something you can change and then retest.

Private is not the same as anonymous or undetectable. An address only one person uses produces one consistent behavioural profile, and a site building a picture of that IP over time sees a single actor with no cover traffic. On a datacenter range that can make a private address easier to characterise than a busy shared one. The exit address also says nothing about your TLS fingerprint or the timing of your requests.

Pricing usually follows exclusivity rather than usage. You rent the port or the line by the month and pay the same whether you push a gigabyte through it or nothing at all. That suits steady, always-on workloads and wastes money on bursty ones. Metered per-gigabyte pricing inverts the maths. Work out your monthly volume before comparing the two, because a private line only wins on cost above the crossover point for your traffic.

Where you meet it

Private endpoints come up when one shared IP is being blamed for problems you cannot reproduce, and when accounts on a platform have to stay unlinked from anyone else's activity. Media buyers and multi-account operators end up here first. The question to answer before paying the premium is whether your blocks are coming from a neighbour's traffic or from your own fingerprint, since exclusivity fixes only the first.

Common questions

Is a private proxy the same as a dedicated proxy?

Most sellers treat them as the same word, and both mean you are the only customer on the resource. The detail that varies is which resource: an IP address, a port on a gateway, or an entire modem and SIM. Ask which one the plan reserves, because the performance difference between them is large.

Does a private proxy make me anonymous?

No. It hides your own IP from the destination and keeps other customers off the address, and that is where its effect ends. Browser and TLS fingerprints, cookies, logins and request timing identify you regardless of who else uses the exit. A private address used carelessly is still easy to link across sites.

When is a private proxy worth the extra cost?

When a block costs more than the rental. Account management, ad platforms and anything with a login justify it, because a single flagged neighbour can lose you an account rather than a request. Bulk collection of public pages usually does not, since retries on a rotating pool are cheaper than exclusive lines.

Sharing spreads the cost of the underlying line across users, which is why shared plans price lower per gigabyte. 4G Proxy
A 4G proxy is a mobile proxy whose exit runs on an LTE connection, using an address the mobile operator assigns to a SIM. It behaves like any phone on that network: carrier ASN, carrier geolocation, a public address shared with other subscribers, and a new one available whenever the data session is re-established.
5G Proxy
A 5G proxy is a mobile proxy whose exit device connects over a 5G network, giving higher throughput and lower radio latency than LTE. To a website it is indistinguishable from a 4G exit on the same carrier, because both draw public addresses from the same operator ranges and report the same ASN.
Residential Proxy
A residential proxy routes requests through an IP address that an internet service provider assigned to a home connection, so traffic appears to come from a consumer household. Lookups return the ISP's ASN and a residential classification. Pools are usually large and rotating, drawn either from real consumer devices or from ISP-registered ranges.
Datacenter Proxy
A datacenter proxy runs on a server in a hosting facility, using an IP address registered to a cloud or colocation provider rather than to a consumer ISP or a mobile carrier. It is fast and cheap, and it is the easiest kind for a website to identify, because hosting ranges are public knowledge.
Rotating Proxy
A rotating proxy changes the exit IP address it presents to the target, either on every request or on a timer, without the client changing its configuration. Your code keeps pointing at one host and port; the provider swaps the address behind it, spreading traffic across a pool of many IPs.
