What is Static Proxy?

A static proxy keeps the same exit IP address for the life of the rental, so every request through it reaches the target from one identity. Providers sell static datacenter, static residential (ISP) and static mobile lines. Stability is both the benefit and the exposure, since a single flagged action attaches to an address you keep using.

How the address stays fixed differs by type. A static datacenter proxy holds an address assigned to a host inside a hosting provider's range, announced under that hosting company's ASN. A static residential or ISP proxy uses an address from a block registered to a consumer ISP but hosted on server hardware, so IP intelligence databases class it as residential while it behaves like a datacenter machine. Mobile is the awkward case. Carriers hand out addresses on attachment from a shared pool, so a static mobile line means the provider does not rotate it, and a re-registration can still move you.

The reason to pay for one is continuity. Services that allowlist source IPs for firewall rules or API access need an address that does not move. Long-lived logins, ad accounts and marketplace seller accounts survive better when the platform sees the same address for months, because a sudden change in geography or ASN triggers a re-verification. Anything that ties a token or a device record to an IP behaves more predictably on a fixed exit than on a rotating pool.

Reputation cuts both ways. An address you have used consistently for a year with normal traffic reads as a settled customer, which is worth more than any header you can set. The same permanence means one ban follows you, since blacklists and per-site blocks stay attached and no rotation moves you away from them. Static residential addresses are also checkable - a lookup that shows a consumer ISP name over a hosting ASN, or an address in a range known to sell proxy access, gives detection systems something to work with.

Run one identity per static address. Sharing a fixed exit between several accounts on the same platform is the clearest way to link them, since the platform can join accounts on IP alone with no fingerprinting needed. Keep the timezone, locale and browser profile consistent with the address's location. One practical upside is that latency and throughput stay steady on a fixed route, so performance measurements mean something and a sudden change points at a real fault.

Where you meet it

You reach for a static proxy when a platform starts asking for re-verification every time your automation runs, or when a partner API refuses connections from anything outside an allowlist. It is also the default choice for account work that has to survive weeks rather than a session. The trade to weigh is throwaway addresses you can rotate away from against one address you have to protect.

Common questions

Is a static proxy the same as a dedicated proxy?

No. Static describes the address, which does not change. Dedicated describes exclusivity, meaning nobody else uses the resource. A proxy can be static and shared with other customers, or dedicated to you and still rotating on a timer. Check both properties in the product description, because vendors mix the terms freely.

Can a mobile proxy be static?

In practice it means the provider stops rotating the line, not that the carrier guarantees a permanent lease. Mobile addresses come from a shared carrier pool at attachment, so a network-side reset or a modem reconnect can change it. If you need an address that never moves, a static residential or ISP proxy is the more predictable choice.

Do static residential proxies get detected?

They can be. The address maps to a consumer ISP, which passes a basic ASN check, but detection systems also look at how the address behaves: server-grade uptime and traffic patterns no household produces. Ranges that have been resold as proxies for a long time end up on commercial proxy-detection lists.

It behaves like any phone on that network: carrier ASN, carrier geolocation, a public address shared with other subscribers, and a new one available whenever the data session is re-established.
5G Proxy
A 5G proxy is a mobile proxy whose exit device connects over a 5G network, giving higher throughput and lower radio latency than LTE. To a website it is indistinguishable from a 4G exit on the same carrier, because both draw public addresses from the same operator ranges and report the same ASN.
Residential Proxy
A residential proxy routes requests through an IP address that an internet service provider assigned to a home connection, so traffic appears to come from a consumer household. Lookups return the ISP's ASN and a residential classification. Pools are usually large and rotating, drawn either from real consumer devices or from ISP-registered ranges.
Datacenter Proxy
A datacenter proxy runs on a server in a hosting facility, using an IP address registered to a cloud or colocation provider rather than to a consumer ISP or a mobile carrier. It is fast and cheap, and it is the easiest kind for a website to identify, because hosting ranges are public knowledge.
Rotating Proxy
A rotating proxy changes the exit IP address it presents to the target, either on every request or on a timer, without the client changing its configuration. Your code keeps pointing at one host and port; the provider swaps the address behind it, spreading traffic across a pool of many IPs.
