CoreSite - Denver (DE1) counts 152 networks, while H5 Data Centers Denver in Greenwood Village has 17, Equinix DE2 15 and Flexential DEN03 in Aurora 15. The rest of the metro spreads thin, with CoreSite DE2 at 14, 1500 Champa at 10 and Level(3) Denver at 9, and the suburbs of Englewood, Centennial and Highlands Ranch each holding sites in single digits. Colorado Springs has Data102 COS01 at 5. Denver hosts every recorded exchange, IX-Denver with 90 participants and Any2Denver with 72.

A Colorado IP address carries the location its operator registered, which geolocation databases copy without checking. Mobile networks stretch that further. AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon route subscriber sessions through regional gateways, and a gateway serving Colorado may register in another state, so a phone in Colorado Springs or Aurora can present an address databases place in Denver or well outside the state. Look at the prefix before the label. The origin ASN announcing an address and the netname on its block tell you who runs it, and that is checkable. Verizon lists seven mobile ASNs, AT&T five and T-Mobile five, so the origin narrows a mobile address to one carrier and stops there. Colorado's 176 peering networks and 31 facilities describe where networks connect to each other, a different question from where a subscriber's device happens to be.
